Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's Magic *****
by Betty MacDonald
Overview: Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle helps parents "cure" their naughty children using all sorts of magic pills and potions.
Themes: obedience
Positive elements: Negative behavior is called out and addressed. Kids can see how silly their poor behavior really appears to others. The stories are funny and have good dialog.
Negative elements: The parents in the book are walked over by their children. They don't discipline their kids, and then they finally are so annoyed by their children they call Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle for some magic pill to cure them.
Conclusion: The stories in this book are funny and well-written; however, as a parent, I don't like how kids are cured of bad behavior by magic.
